Position Summary

Enabling technologies having a growing impact in all sectors of the economy and society, electronic systems constitute an immense vector of wealth creation, making it one of the key sectors from which Quebec has every advantage to benefit. . The premise of countless transformative technologies such as the Internet of Things, Quantum and even artificial intelligence, the role that electronic systems play in the digital shift is essential.​

A significant project for the Bromont region, determining for the strategic and technological positioning of our industry, relevant for the promotion of academic and industrial collaborations, the Technum Québec zone is a vector of the economic growth of our province.

Reporting to the President and CEO, the Director of Business Development will be responsible for making the Technum Québec innovation zone known internationally, in Canada and in Quebec, promoting the technical activities taking place there and approaching organizations that offer a solution. technology in perfect adequacy and complementarity with the current Quebec offering. He (she) will be one of the main interfaces of the organization with Investissement Québec to promote the area for any company interested in establishing itself in the territory. He (she) will have to master the overall offer of the ecosystem and demonstrate the possible business links that could be forged between various stakeholders to convince these companies of the benefits they could obtain by setting up in Quebec. The relocation of supply chains offers an opportunity to position Quebec advantageously over the next 2 to 4 years on which we must capitalize.

At the same time, the director will approach other organizations to bring development and prototyping projects to the zone and throughout Quebec, while supporting current clients in the zone through their activities. He (she) will also have the responsibility with the economic development organizations already present in the territory (i.e. the pole of excellence for electronic systems of Quebec – ISEQ) to build bridges with the organizations present in the territory (the verticals) and ensure the participation of electronic systems stakeholders in the manufacturing of innovative products.

Main responsibilities

  • Attract new firms that are perfectly suited and complementary to the already present ecosystem;
  • Identify new markets and opportunities for Quebec and its ecosystem;
  • Be one of the main interfaces with Investissement Québec;
  • Present and promote the offerings of Quebec organizations with the aim of expanding the quantity of projects undertaken in the territory;
  • Work together with the president to improve or modify Technum’s offering with the aim of attracting a larger pool of potential industrial customers;
  • Present and promote Quebec’s offering, with the aim of expanding the skills pool of our industrialists working in all spheres of activity in the area initially and of all Quebec industrialists secondly;
  • Support industrial development projects;
  • Validate, define and structure the projects of our manufacturers to promote them within the ecosystem;
  • Attend and represent Quebec at technical industry conferences to publicize the offerings of our manufacturers and attract new firms to Quebec and the region;
  • Inform, accompany and support manufacturers in our ecosystem with the aim of enabling them to obtain funding from certain government programs or from
  • Investissement Québec;
  • Ensure monitoring and keep up to date with new developments in the fields of electronics and microelectronics as well as new players who could become industrial partners in the area;
  • Participate in the development of the equipment necessary to promote the activities of Technum Québec in terms of the service offering of our manufacturers;
  • Assume all other tasks entrusted by his immediate superior in his area of expertise.

Skills sought

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, or in a discipline related to activities in the area;
  • More than 7 years of experience in customer relations in a similar or related field;
  • Experience in identifying decision-makers within companies;
  • Strong sales and customer service skills;
  • Knowledge of the market and key players in the sensor, electronics and microelectronics markets, a prerequisite;
  • Teamwork skills;
  • Experience in a high-tech manufacturing environment;
  • Bilingual (French and English) written and oral;
  • Open to travel (10% of time outside the province annually)
