Building on the successful collaboration established through the CRSNG–Teledyne Industrial Research Chair in Next-Generation MEMS and Microphotonics launched in 2020 and led by Professors Luc Fréchette and Paul Charette, Teledyne MEMS aims to go further by once again partnering with the Institut interdisciplinaire d’innovation technologique (3IT) to establish the Chair in Thin-Film Microstructure Engineering for the Microelectronics Industry.
This collaboration involves Professor Nadi Braidy, who serves as Chairholder, along with Professors and co-researchers Luc Fréchette and Mathieu Massicotte.
Thanks to the new transmission electron microscope hosted at the 3IT, the research team will be able to observe and better understand the structure and properties of materials used, for example, in microbolometer-based thermal cameras produced by Teledyne MEMS. This microscope makes it possible to obtain ultra-precise images with a resolution reaching 0.07 nanometers and to visualize individual atoms.
This state-of-the-art equipment further strengthens the Integrated Innovation Chain (IIC), which brings together the Institut Quantique (IQ), the Interdisciplinary Institute for Technological Innovation (3IT), and the MiQro Innovation Collaborative Centre (C2MI).
